Word by Jean-Christoph Derian, a former intern with Rhythms of Life
Last summer, I came to Rhythms of Life for an internship as part of my studies. I had never worked in a charity before, and when the opportunity presented itself I thought it would be a great experience and that I should grasp the opportunity to finally make a difference!
During the time I spent there, I have helped to design the website of the charity while occasionally also helping other people. This experience has been highly rewarding to me as it has allowed me to meet new people from different backgrounds!
As a native French speaker, It was not very easy to express myself and I wasn’t too sure whether I would be able to be understood! However I was really surprised to see that everybody was really welcoming and friendly, allowing me to have a great social interaction!
At the end of my internship, I could then proudly say that my English had really improved as everybody has tried to help me work on it.
Also, I have really enjoyed working at ROLI because everyone tried to give advice or offer new ideas to advance the projects. The work was serious but in a really good atmosphere which made me want to get involved more.
Now It's interesting to see that the work begun has been continued by others after I left the charity. Volunteering at ROLI has been a great experience and I would surely recommend it to anyone!
