Become a volunteer.

"I’ve been volunteering with Rhythms of Life for the past 2 months. Rhythm of Life is a small and young charity and therefore it has been particularly interesting to see how an organization develops and functions from its early stages. What is more, this has been a valuable chance to get first hand experience in the charity sector. These are some of the dynamics that made me interested in participating and volunteering with Rhythms of Life."

I decided to come to London in order to find out a summer job to improve my English as many students do. I decided to have a look at Gumtree advert and sent an email and my CV. Then I went to the Open Days several days later to introduce myself and to meet Faris and learn more about Rhythms of Life projects in London. The following day, I started to work as the I.T. coordinator within the office.

Working for a charity is very important to me especially about homelessness in London. Indeed, London is a great city, gathering lots of people and it's crucial that charities try to help those in need. Everyday, there are men, women who have no money, living in the street and needing help to eat at least once a day.

My role within the charity was to manage the computers of the office by answering questions of other volunteers and trying to repair when answering questions is not sufficient. But the main part of my job was to re-design the website of Rhythms of Life with the help of other volunteers in order to improve it and make it look nicer. It was a very interesting thing to do, I learnt a lot and I tried to share my computer skills with the others.

To conclude, Rhythms of Life has given me a great opportunity to meet new people, improve my English and I.T. skills. In return, I have helped them in their huge office work and I tried to improve their website to make Rhythms of Life a well-known charity.
